Join us in Chapel on Wednesday, February 17 at 8:15 and hear Dr. Dessieux speak about his recent trip to Haiti!

January: Praying for Haiti
As you've seen in the news, there was a terrible earthquake in Haiti.  The second-graders had Mrs. Dessieux last year as their teacher and learned a lot about Haiti because she lived there for two years.  Mrs. Dessieux's husband Dr. Guesly Dessieux is originally from Haiti as well.  We have been praying for the people of Haiti and were excited to learn that Dr. Dessieux has formed a team of doctors and nurses to go to Haiti to help in a clinic there.  You can read all about his story in this Statesman Journal article: http://www.statesmanjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=20101220354

January: Reader's Theater
Each student in our class read a part in a reader's theater script titled Wonder Bread that we presented in chapel. It engagingly told the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000. We have been studying Jesus' compassion in Bible.

Here we are practicing in our classroom.
Yes, we are also studying the solar system :)

December: Christmas Program
The Christmas program in December was a smashing success!  The first and second graders shined brightly with their beautiful singing.  They sang carols and proclaimed the true reason for celebrating Christmas.  Special thanks go to Mr. Neely for teaching the carols and leading the music, Mrs. Dessieux for accompanying on the piano, and Miss Martin for assisting throughout the program.  We hope you enjoyed it!

December: Christmas Party
"Deck the Halls" was a school-wide celebration that we kicked off by singing Christmas carols in the hall.  Then an employee from Roth's Fresh Markets came in and made an amazing gingerbread house for us. Then we all got to decorate our own gingerbread cookies with MORE sugar!

November: Operation Christmas Child

Our class gathered enough gifts to send 2 boxes of Christmas joy to children who may not have received gifts otherwise.  When the boxes are delivered, we will receive an email telling us what country they landed in.  We were excited to bless kids on the other side of the world this Christmas!  We sent this picture of our class to the children who will be receiving the gifts.  We found out our boxes went to Peru, then we put a sticker there on our map in class!
